Thursday, July 29

Well today was the last day of application. My project seems very rudimentary compared to the others I have seen. Although this is upsetting, I am pleased with the progress I have made thus far. I hope that others take away the fact that I have tried. Others in the class are much more advanced than I. My intention is to continue working and practicing working with these v arious multimedia applications to become more proficient.
Hope my presentation goes well!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday, July 28

Today was a very exciting day! We were able to apply all of the information we have been saturated with since the first day. I was able to work with VoiceThread, Google Maps, as well as powerpoint. I found that it just takes time to navigate around these sites to learn how to apply the information. I am a bit more confident with my abilities.
My project I hope is progressing in a positive way. My project is going to have students create a mini-ancestry chart as well as creating a world map on google maps with locations of where their family is from as well as places they have travelled and where their interests lie. It is my hope that the presentation for this class goes in a positive direction and is understandable to the rest of the class.
I look forward t o tomorrow and continuing to play around with the programs. Another hope I have for our next meeting will be more hands-on application on the SMARTBoard, as I will be using one in the new school year.

Tuesday July 27th

Today we learned about how to better use a spreadsheet. It was very interesting, however when my computer got a virus it wiped out my access to Microsoft Word. Fortunately, Bill was kind enough to let me use his computer to practice the various skills. I will try to incorporate this new knowledge when I go back to school and have Word reinstalled on my computer. We also got an introduction to SMARTBoards today. I am very much looking forward to our next two days of playing with them. My school computer will be given to me in August when we return for PD's, so I will download the SmartTech software at that time. I am very pleased with the class thus far...not too computer illiterate anymore...making progress!

Monday entry

Today was an exciting as well as a frustrating day. Exciting because I learned more about Google and its capabilities. I found it a bit difficult to manage my way around Google because of my lack of overall computer knowledge. I do look forward to gaining more confidence with the computer and I believe that will happen under Tom's tutilage.

I am considering doing an introductory lesson on Genealogy. I will be teaching a course this coming year called International Studies and I do not have a curriculum or any sort of idea as to what the course requirements are, so I figure if students can begin to link themselves to the international world through their ancestry I figure this will be a good start.
